What is the difference between pipe supports and restraints?

In generalterms, a pipe support is designed to carry the pipe weight while simultaneouslypermitting deflection in vertical and/or horizontal directions. Whereas,restraints are intended to restrict movement as either a guiding element or ananchoring device.
