Various Sized Saddles for a Power Project

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. designed and manufactured saddles for a power project in California.

The saddles were built for 12″, 24″ and 30″ pipe and the loads varied from 1,500 pounds to a maximum design load of 20,000 pounds. The saddle and its components will hang from a beam in the field by spring hangers to complete what is known as a “trapeze” pipe hanger assembly. In order to prevent movement, the supported pipes will be secured to the curved portion of the saddle with u-bolts.

If you are in need of pipe saddles, let us know! We would be glad to help you.

Rods and Clevises for a Natural Gas Combined Cycle Facility

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. designed and manufactured hundreds of hanger rods and clevises for a 1,250 MW natural gas combined cycle facility in Mississippi.

The rod and clevis components were made of various alloys (800H, F91, 316H, SA-387 Gr. 22) and ranged in sizes from 2″ to 4″ diameter. Taking into account the surrounding environment’s conditions, engineers designed the rods and clevises so that they can endure temperatures escalating to 1430º F. For the duration of a pull test conducted, the clevises and rods sustained loads up to 152,000 lbs. and there were no discrepancies.

Are rods and clevises on your checklist for an upcoming project? Request a quote today!

40 Clamp Attachments for a Petrochemical Plant

The clamp attachments shown are used for supporting vertical pipe sections to vessel clip anchors. These braces are designed for a maximum horizontal moment of 15,000 ft-lb at the vessel clip. All the clamps provided were made of carbon steel with a hot-dip-galvanized finish. The pipe hanger assembly lengths were fabricated per specifications provided by the client.

The clamp components were designed and fabricated for non-standard pipe diameters (i.e. 13-3/4″, 16-1/2″) so that they could be used on insulated or finned pipelines.

24", Chrome-Moly, Three-Bolt Clamps with Stanchions

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. designed and fabricated 24″, chrome-moly, three-bolt clamps with horizontal guide stanchions for a 765 MW natural gas-fired combined cycle facility in Mexico.

These clamps, in conjunction with variable springs, will allow for vertical and axial pipe movement while restricting lateral movements. They were made for 24″ OD pipe from 1-1/2 x 9″ stock material. Based upon design considerations, the clamp “E” dimension, from pipe centerline to outer load bolt, was 25″. The clamps were designed for operation at 1065°F and per customer-supplied information, the vertical design load was 1,848 lbs and the maximum lateral load was 19,207 lbs.

The clamp plates are made of A387 GR. 22 plate material, stanchion pieces of A335 GR.22 pipe and the side stop plates of carbon steel.

PT&P Utilizes 3D-Modeling Technology to Design Pipe Supports for a 750MW Power Plant

Pipe Supports on Shipping Floor

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. recently designed and fabricated 9 pipe supports with loads up to 75,000 lbs. for a 750MW power plant in Alabama. After extensive engineering hours and structure analysis, PT&P’s engineering department produced a detailed design and 3-D model for the supports that would allow them to run electronic interface checks. The supports are to support the cooling towers’ circulatory water system at the power plant. Six of the 9 supports were designed for a 60” line and 50,000 lb. load, and the remaining 3 were designed for a 78” line and 75,000 lbs. of load.

Furnace Springs Versus Standard Springs The major differences between standard springs and furnace springs are their construction and intended use. Furnace springs operate in much the same way as other variable spring supports. They are designed to support the pipe and tubes that are subject to vertical thermal movement. The design changes come about because, furnace springs are exposed to extreme temperatures.

FURNACE SPRINGS STANDARD SPRINGS
COATINGS Red oxide primer in order to aviod potential hazards when exposed to high temperatures Hot dipped galvanized which tends to melt the zinc coating. Molten zinc can damage surrounding pipe and equipment.
CONSTRUCTION
Unique to its application and intended use
Welded design for housing assembly
Centers the spring coils within the housing and accommodates lug attachments
Interchangeable
Bolted configuration for the housing
DESIGN Spring used as a means to determine the loading of the catalyst tubes

66" Diameter, Three-bolt Pipe Clamp

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. custom designed and fabricated a 66-inch diameter, three-bolt pipe clamp for a chemical company located in Deer Park, Texas.

The clamp will be used in conjunction with a PT&P Spring Hanger and a length of rod in order to support the pipeline.  After formation, the clamp’s dimensions measured at 97.75 OAL and 69.5 at its widest point. By using a FEA program, the clamp was designed for an operating load of 24,000 pounds at 500° F. The materials used consisted of 1 ¾ x 10 x 128 ¼ thick A-36 Carbon steel, with three 2½ studs and nuts.
