Cryogenic pipe supports, ranging in diameter from 6″ to 38″, were designed to support and insulate piping in an LNG receiving and regassification plant. The “cold shoe anchors” were designed for temperatures down to -260°F and a load range of 26,000 lb. to 210,000 lb. A combination of high density polyurethane foam (PUF) and Permali® was used for the insulation. The center stops that are welded to the process pipe were built from 304 stainless steel, and carbon steel was used for the remainder of the shoe.

A total of 90 variable spring supports were designed and manufactured to support pipe lines in a gas storage facility in Abu Dhabi. The pictures above show PTP-4 Double Spring B-Type, PTP-6 Triple Springs B-Type, PTP-1 Triple Springs D-Type, and PTP-4 Double Springs F-Type, (also known as F-Cans). Load capacities range from 1,000 lb. to 45,000 lb., and movements range from 3/8″ to 3″. A two-layer custom paint was applied over the hot-dip galvanized finish to protect against a severely corrosive environment. Travel stops were chained to the spring can housing, so they can be reused during plant shutdowns. Load and quality assurance tests were performed on all the supports prior to shipment.

The 114″ diameter, 3-piece pipe clamp is fabricated from A36 carbon steel and the pins are stainless steel. The sway strut is also fabricated from carbon steel and measures 24′-8″ long. This assembly can support loads up to 27,200 lb. and will be used in an oil refinery in Louisianna.
Do you require clamps or sway struts for an upcoming project? We’d be happy to serve your needs!
This week’s feature is on mechanical snubber assemblies custom designed for an oil refinery in California. This project included twenty mechanical snubber assemblies with load ratings from 16,000 lb. to 40,000 lb. and lengths ranging from 65-1/2″ to 103-1/2″. Some of the snubbers were designed to double the standard stroke (up to 12″) by using two MSA-10 sized snubbers back-to-back. All the assemblies were custom designed by adding a carbon steel pipe extension piece. Load tests were performed and the assemblies were shipped in just under four weeks.

Read MoreThis custom designed variable spring assembly is comprised of a standard PTP-1-160 type F variable spring with a supplementary extension and load flange with a stainless steel slide plate. The variable is fabricated entirely from carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanize finish. The extension is schedule 40 pipe, 8″ in diameter and 12-5/16″ in height. The slide plate is fabricated from A240 grade stainless steel and is welded to the top of the load flange. This support will be used underneath a 16″ diameter pipe with a dummy leg. It is designed for 1/16″ vertical travel and 1/8″ horizontal travel for an oil refinery in Algeria.

These pipe clamp-guides were custom designed and fabricated for a 4″ pipe vertical run in an LNG facility. They measure 16″ from the bottom of the W-beam to the centerline of pipe and designed for temperatures up to 750°F. The clamp-guides were fabricated from carbon steel and include a hot-dipped galvanize finish.

A total of 295 cryogenic pipe supports ranging from 4″ to 38″ NPS were designed for a LNG regasification facility in India. The shoe and bearing plates were fabricated from carbon steel, the jacket was fabricated from aluminized steel and includes a vapor barrier. 20 PCF high density polyurethane foam was used for the insulation.
