PT&P recently designed and manufactured over 1,000 Coldshoes for an LNG Plant in Egypt. These shoes are designed to support loads up to 75,000 lbs. at an operating temperature of -350°F. They are customized to fit pipe sizes of 20”, 24”, 30”, and 36”. All Coldshoes are composed of stainless steel with a Micarta® insulator. Micarta® is a woven glass fabric laminated with epoxy resin. It is extremely high in mechanical strength, has low moisture absorption and dissipative factors, and has superior electrical characteristics which are exhibited over a wide range of temperatures and humidities.

The above design shows cryogenic supports with Permali® block. Permali® block is a laminated phenolic material from layers of wood impregnated under vacuum and heat with synthetic resin. These pipe shoes can be designed to restrain very high axial, lateral and vertical loads. These shoes are used for LNG pipeline sliding supports with TEF slide plates.

Sweco Fab recently designed and manufactured two carbon steel sway struts with 2” adjustment capabilities for a cycle unit project. The sway strut is constructed of an 8” diameter pipe, 130 ¼” long, assembled with rod ends and brackets for an overall assembly length of 15’-0”. The 2” adjustment capability is accompanied by a load capacity up to 128 KIPS. Sway struts are used to restrain movement of piping in one direction while providing movement from thermal expansion or contraction in another direction.

PT&P designed and fabricated eighteen graphite slide plates for a refinery project in India. These plates are made of graphite sheets with thicknesses of 6mm and 12mm. The overall dimensions of the plates are 3/8″ x 19-11/16″ x 19-11/16″ and 3/8″ x 61″ x 61″. The plates will be tack welded on top of big ton spring supports in the refinery to minimize frictional effects.

PT&P recently fabricated 22 Fig. 190 Type 3 riser clamps for suspending the vertical runs of pipe at the central power plant in Puerto Rico. The clamps are designed for 17″ and 24” pipes and have an overall length of 71″ and 87” respectively. Both designs have a bar stock size of 1.75″x10″ and load bolts of 2.75″ diameter. Utilizing gusset plates at the clamp’s bend radius allowed for the smallest, yet sufficient clamp stock size for the specified loads. The smaller clamp has an operating capacity of 14,000 lbs while the larger operates at 20,500 lbs. Chrome-Moy 387 Grade 22 bar stock was used with A193 Grade B7 bolting to accommodate high temperature operating conditions.

PT&P recently designed and manufactured a support assembly with two PTP-2 Type C spring hangers and a special clamp support. The springs are designed for an 8,500 lb load and a maximum travel of 1″. The entire pipe hanger assembly, with a net weight of 860 lbs, was fabricated from Carbon Steel and A-387 GR. 22 Chrome. The springs were calibrated to determine the exact spring rate prior to adjusting to customer specifications.

Piping Technology and Products, Inc. fabricated 4702 carbon steel shoes for various pipe sizes ranging from 2” to 10”. As per customer request, the shoes are designed to accommodate 30 PSI compressive strength. A three-coat paint system was applied for corrosion protection. All supports were liquid dye-penetrant tested at 5% of welds.

PT&P recently manufactured 1,520 PTP-2 and PTP-4 spring hanger assemblies designed specifically for a furnace application. These custom variable springs have welded components as opposed to bolted components found in standard assemblies. Due to the space limitation within the furnace, the spring coils were set in a welded housing which allows for the springs to be closely oriented within a smaller spatial envelope. The pipe hanger assemblies are made from carbon steel, consisting of variable spring, rod, and riser clamp components. Instead of galvanizing, the assemblies were coated with a red-oxide primer due to the high temperature operating conditions of the furnace. This prevents the possibility of molten zinc (from the galvanizing process) contaminating the furnace tubes.
The springs are designed for loads of 143 to 660 lbs. and for total travel ranging from 3/4 to 2″. Each assembly was pre-assembled to ensure free movement throughout the spring’s travel range before welding the bottom closure plate. Prior to shipment, all assemblies were calibrated to determine the exact spring rate and then were set to the customer’s designated cold load position. These springs are then located and installed into the furnace based on the spring rate.
